UIPM Executive Committee decides for "IQ-shooting"
The dice are cast: the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) starts a brave new era with the view to Mount Olympus. For the first time this season an Olympic sport competition is carried out with laser sports equipment that are no more weapons, and as a model for the 2012 Games in London. The IQ-Shooting System of Operate-IQ GmbH is used. The Cologne, Germany based company with CEO Klaus Kremer received the decision and contract of the Executive Committee of the International Federation UIPM and will equip the World Cup final and the Youth Olympic games competitions this season accordingly.
The change is in spite of its epochal significance, only visible! In future, the trigger is fired by the guns of Steyr LP 10, by STEYR Sportwaffen - one of the leading and most successful manufacturers of Austria - a laser beam instead of a 4.5 mm pellet "fires". The listener hears on the other hand, the typical "pop" shutter, the shooter feels the slight jumping of the gun - all as before. With the MultiMediaPointer (MMP) the goal of IQ-Shooting is, that all of the components should be as realistic as possible and preserve the essential characteristics of the currently used equipment.
In the final discipline of the modern pentathlon, the Cross Country and air pistol shooting event from existing "combined event", also falls the decision in London 2012, after the competitors have fought out and completed the disciplines of swimming, fencing and horseback riding. Because of the laser shooting, the organization of competitions will be decicevly easier now. As well as the training, especially for children and young people simply because of the MultiMediaPointer replaces the barrel of the gun by the "IQ-Container". "This shooting is totally harmless and safe," said Klaus Kremer. With this innovation, the training can begin for children earlier than ever before, and gun laws do not apply in any of the worldwide countries. Another positive effect: the shooting at the pentathlon is environmentally friendly because there is no ground toxination as it is fully heavy metal-free. In addition to the world of performance training, the devices are ideally suited to concentrate and focus training on short distances, at any place that is also in safety training around the living room.
